Geoffrey Sserunkuma opened his league account for the Purple Sharks but his goal wasn’t sufficient as suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Police.
The Cops scored through Ben Ocen and Andrew Samson Kigozi to edge the tie.
A sloppy start was punished by a second minute goal from Ocen who got at the end of Arafat Galiwango ball.
Sserunkuma equalised eight minutes later with his first of the season and he had another opportunity cleared off the line before the break.
The second half was evenly poised until the 67th minute when Kigozi all alone headed home past Yasin Mugabi for the winner.
By then, coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi had introduced Ivan Ssebuguzi and Yasin Mugume for Hakim Ssenkumba and Ivan Kiweewa respectively.
He later brought on Karim Ndugwa as the search for the leveller intensified but the Cops held on for all points.
Defeat keeps us 8th on the 16-team table with 20 points in 16 games.
