Rahmat Ssenfuka opened his account for the club with a goal
in a 1-1 draw with KCCA FC at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Wakissha.
Samson Kigozi had given the visitors a lead with a snap shot
before Ssenfuka drew us level.
Coach Douglas Bamweyana made a couple of changes from the
team started away to URA with Ssenfuka and Hassan Ssenyonjo replacing Joshua
Lubwama and Ibrahim Kasule respectively.
The Purple Sharks started well and could have taken the lead
but Ssekajugo shot over the bar after a slip up by Filbert Obenchan.
Pius Kaggwa also tested Lukwago from over 25 yards but the
KCCA goalie was equal to the task.
At the other end, Kigozi who had replaced injured Brian
Aheebwa and Bright Anukani shot wide when presented with chances.
In the 41st minute, Kigozi broke the deadlock
with a well taken goal after Ssenfuka’s interception fell straight at him.
But the lead lasted four minutes as we got a penalty at the
opposite box when Obenchan brought down Kipson Atuheire in the area.
Ssenfuka calmly slotted home from 12 yards sending Lukwago
the wrong way.
In the second half, the visitors resorted to long balls targeting
the pace of Charles Lwanga and got a decent chance forcing a save from Kiirya.
Bamweyana made a triple change bringing on Mugume, Lubwama
and Kasule for the tired Kaggwa, Bukenya and Ssenfuka respectively.
Kasule nearly made it 2-1 with his first touch but
agonisingly missed a low cross from the left.
Ssekajugo also went close before Atuheire had what appeared
like a legit goal disallowed for offside.
Our number 11 was also denied by a tackle from Peter Magambo
when through on goal as the game ended 1-1.
The results leaves us 10th on the log with 11
points and our next game is a trip to Wankulukuku to face Express FC.
