Tom Masiko scored a goal in either half as we beat Fufa Big League side water FC 2-1 in the first leg of the 2021 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Coach Douglas Bamweyana named centre back Fahad Kawooya at the heart of defence and also Viane Ssekajugo who is banned in the league started.
The boys started brilliantly with Bogere, Masiko and Ssekajugo forcing good saves from the hosts’ goalkeeper.
But failure to be lethal saw us punished at the other end as William Kiibi slotted home from close range off Fred Segujja cutback in the 32nd minute.
Masiko drew us level from the penalty in the first of the three additional first half minutes after handball in the area.
The number 7 was it again from the same yards after he was brought down in the area.
There were opportunities to extend lead but Ssekajugo was denied by the cross bar after looping the ball over the advancing goalie while Masiko saw his two attempts from just outside pushed out for corners.
There were substitute appearances for Lawrence Bukenya, Rahmat Ssenfuka and Gadafi Wahab.
The win means we shall progress to the round of 16 if we avoid defeat at home on Saturday.
