Wakiso Giants lost a goal lead to lose 2-1 to Mbarara City
on league resumption at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium on Friday.
Tom Masiko scored from the penalty after Pius Kaggwa was
fouled in the area inside fourth minute.
But Henry Kitegenyi and substitute Solomon Okwalinga scored
for Mbarara City in the 40th and 85th minute
respectively.
The Purple Sharks could have doubled the lead but Kaggwa’s
attempt from just inside the area was saved and Yasin Mugume shot just wide
from the rebound.
After a series of missed chances, Kitegenyi levelled matters
five minutes to the break.
Coach Douglas Bamweyana withdrew Mugume for Kipson Atuheire
and later a triple change with Joshua Lubwama replacing Lawrence Bukenya,
Ibrahim Kasule came on for Kaggwa and Alex Komakech replaced debutant George
Kaddu.
Ivan Bogere had two opportunities missed and so did Masiko
who shot straight at the goalie while Kasule also shot narrowly wide.
Okwalinga then punished the team’s profligacy with the
winner in the 85th minute to condemn us to a fourth defeat of the
season and leaves us 13th on the table with 16 points in as many
games.
Next on menu is the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 first leg
tie against Water FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Sunday.
