Wakiso Giants 1-1 Vipers {Vipers win 4-3 on penalties]

Wakiso Giants journey in the Stanbic Uganda Cup came to end this season following a loss in the penalties in the round of 16 at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

The game ended 1-1 in normal time with Ashraf Mandela cancelling out a beautiful strike by Shariph Kimbowa.

Kimbowa got at the end of a super move with Marvin Nyanzi on his first start setting him with a well weighted pass which he volleyed home on the 48th minute mark.

The forward who had a good game until his forced substitution could have added to the tally but Fabien Mutombora did well to stop him.

The Burundian also denied Norman Ojik moments after he came on while Hassan Ssenyonjo’s cutback was nearly turned into own net by Livingstone Mulondo.

Mandela then scored in the 79th minute getting on the cutback by Martin Kizza.

The Purple Sharks played the final minutes plus additional time with only 10-men after defender Paul Willa was elbowed by Ahmed Desire Tety who only got a yellow card.

In the shootout, Ojik saw his effort saved while Tom Masiko hit the cross bar although George Kaddu, Moses Aliro and Rahmat Ssenfuka converted beautifully.

Vipers converted all their attempts on a painful chilly evening.

We now turn focus to the Uganda Premier League and unless otherwise, we take on Blacks Power in Lira on Monday next week.
